Our Founder Partner Mariya Stefanova is the author of the best-selling book “Private Equity Accounting: The Global Guide” published by PEI Media in 2011 – the first and only comprehensive textbook on private equity accounting, as well as two other best-sellers – “The Definitive Guide to Carried Interest ” published by PEI Media in 2017 and “Private Equity Accounting, Investor Reporting and Beyond: Advanced Guide”, published by Financial Times Press/ Pearson in 2015.
Mariya Stefanova is the founder partner of PEAI Group, a global private equity specialist consultancy and training firm, providing specialist technical advice and training to GPs, LPs, placement agents, fund administrators and other PE service providers. Since 2015, PEAI is focusing on carried interest and fee validation for LP clients, waterfall/carried interest modelling and waterfall model review, assessment & certification for GP clients and fund administrators.
Mariya has more than fifteen years of experience in private equity accounting and investor reporting and more than eleven years of experience in training during which period she has trained thousands of fund accountants, CFOs, COOs and other senior executives on the GP, LP and the service providers side.
PEAI Group is also providing specialist PE publications such as the PEAI Private Equity Technical Journal and releases regularly our periodic PEAI Technical Newsletters.
Previously, Mariya has worked for Augentius Fund Administration LLP, a London-based premium provider of global fund administration services, Mourant International Finance Administration (now part of State Street), Patron Capital Partners, a leading opportunistic real estate manager, and Calyon, a French investment bank.
Lorelei Graye, Partner
Lorelei Graye is an oft-cited expert and thought leader who consults some of the largest private capital market stakeholders globally on operations, LP fee verification, and reporting needs while still finding time to contribute pro bono expertise to important industry efforts and private equity participants. With the publication of a 2015 CEM study1, Lorelei’s work first reached a global audience from her home state of South Carolina, where she spearheaded the development of a first of its kind, intensive collection and validation process to capture comprehensive investment costs and carried interest across the retirement system’s portfolio. To improve GP-LP reporting, Lorelei founded the nonprofit trade organization, the Adopting Data Standards (ADS) Initiative which is an industry cross collaboration to develop and promote data standards that will allow for more efficient reporting and automation.
With a strong entrepreneurial background, Lorelei has over 20 years of business experience with degrees in finance and accounting, summa cum laude.

Mattie Wortham has a passion for working and relating with people to create highly successful teams to implement comprehensive quality initiatives to a high touch and dynamic client bases. She offers over 20 years of experience in private capital markets with operational experience from investment manager practices, fund administrator and portfolio company reporting to investors. Her depth of experience includes managing large data initiatives with collecting, cleansing and transforming data to provide high quality data for investment analysis. She leverages her professional curiosity to confront the status quo, and driving towards business transformation goals through the process of engaged learning and ethical decision making. Mattie is a certified public accountant licensed by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy and member of the AICPA. Mattie graduated summa cum laude with a bachelors in business administration from the University of Texas.
